Flamingo Heights

Flamingo Heights  refers to a small community in the desert of Joshua Tree, California, where this poem was written and this video was shot in 2019. The work meditates on memory loss across generations through the potent metaphors of the high desert landscape.

This project has since taken multiple forms at the intersections of image, text and performance. The prose-poetry text is often accompanied by surreal high desert visuals which call upon ghost towns, psychic residue, and dry heat hallucinations.

In March 2025, 100 copies of this work were hand-bound by the artist with linen thread and packaged in wax-paper sleeves. Copies of these a 24-page paperbacks are available for purchase through Tiny Cutlery.
